How To Make Eggnog The Right Way

Eggnog is a holiday drink made from eggs, cream, sugar and liquor typically served cold. It’s also delicious, but that’s beside the point. If you want to make eggnog at home, you’ll need the following ingredients:

2 cups of milk

8 large eggs

1 cup of sugar

½ tsp. of salt

1 tbsp. of vanilla extract

1 cup of heavy whipping cream

To make eggnog with an authentic, homemade taste, you’ll need a few specific ingredients: eggs, milk, sugar, and of course the alcoholic spirits (rum or brandy) that traditionally go into it. To start, separate your eggs and add sugar to your yolks. From there, using a mixer or just by hand, stir in the rum or brandy until your mixture has a smooth consistency.

Eggnog is one of the best holiday drinks, but it can be expensive and hard to find fresh eggs around the holidays. This recipe has all the flavor at a fraction of the price!

In a friendly tone: If you’re one of the brave souls who’s decided to make eggnog from scratch, you’re in luck. It’s actually pretty easy to do—unlike its cousin, ice cream. A basic eggnog recipe typically consists of milk, eggs, sugar and some type of liquor (usually brandy or rum). The best part of homemade eggnog is that you can completely customize it to your liking. For example, when we made this batch we used half whole milk and half 2% milk and added no sugar at all. Our recipe was very simple too: just the ingredients listed above with the addition of nutmeg and vanilla extract.
